Supai Flatwater Packraft
Shadow Cat Adventures now carries the Supai Flatwater 2 packrafts. These rafts are great. they weigh only one and half pounds, roll down to abouthte size of a nalgene bottle and inflate and deflate very quickly. I purchased this raft to replace my Explorer 200. At first I was nervous using it since it was so lightweight I was afraid it would sink or puncture or flip over. Well It didn’t. It performed very well, even when we accidently rode the 83 mile rapids which are rated at 3-6 with a 7′ drop – despite almost losing my pack over the front of the boat. We all made it through safely.
Some of the great features of this raft are its weight and size. No need for a large pack to accommodate your raft. It also inflates fairly quickly with a hand pump or with the inflation tube and unlike the Explorer 200 it takes seconds to deflate instead of 20 minutes. Once you put it in the cold Colorado River the inflation tube is close by so you can add more air if needed.
A must have accessory for the raft is Tenacious tape to patch and a smart bottle cap lid in case you lose your filler tube/cap.
